The Revelation

"It's like Las Vegas," Camy said.

In the darkness above us, electric lights filled the sky. They seemed to be mounted on some kind of rickety superstructure.

"Vegas is much cleaner. It's more like New York City," Campbell said.

Towers topped with slowly blinking lights, animated billboards, directional arrows strobing in various directions.

"Obviously neither of you have been either of those places," I said. "All this is is an airport."

"Or a blimp port," Campbell said.

"Why didn't wee see it when we landed?," Camy asked. "It's enormous."

"It's on the other side of the world, remember?" Campbell asked. "The dark side. Over the horizon."

"Over the rainbow," Camy added.

"Well there's nobody on this side of it," I said. "Not even a fence. Guess it's time we get closer."

"The sun does seem to be going down, " Campbell said.

It was true. The sun was now setting at our backs, and palm tree forest was getting darker.

"And if we head back the way we came, I'll bet we'd see the sun start to rise again," said Camy.

"I suspect we'll see it rise if we keep walking this way long enough," Campbell said. "So a sphere that's tidally locked!"

Campbell was making my head hurt. "Keep your drone up above the trees," I said. "And remember we're here looking for a big blimp, ok?"

"Wait! See it? Lights up ahead, between the trees," said Camy.

There were some flickering flashes deep in the dark.

"Uh, yeah... I see something too," Campbell said. "A lot of lights. In the air."

"Ah, excellent," I said I was getting really tired of this 'deserted island' thing. "Now let's be very cautious and take a good peek at them before we barge in..."

"Well this has gotta be the smallest island ever," I said.

"It can't be an island," Campbell said. "We waked in the same direction the entire time. So it's more like a sphere, and we walked all the way around it and came back around the other side."

"But the sun didn't move," said Camy. "So it can't be like a little planet. More like a ring. A tiny ringworld with the sun in the middle."

"Sounds like flat earth talk to me," I said.

"I flunked out of flat earth," said Campbell.

"We haven't ruled out that The Revelation is here," Camy said."Inland."

"So more like being on the inside of a toilet paper tube, with a tiny sun on one end?" said Campbell. "That doesn't make any sense."

"How far to the other side of the tube?" Camy said.

"Thataways!" I pronounced, and we started walking away from the beach.

The beach seemed like it would never end.

"Doesn't it seem like this beach never ends?" I asked. "I swear I've seen that exact palm tree and that exact wave before."

"The drones don't indicate we've gone very far at all," Campbell said, looking at the sky through his goggles. "And the sun's hardly moved."

Camy was playing in the surf as we moved along. There were gulls.

"Seriously, let's turn back. We don't know how far we're going," I said.

"No, wait!" Campbell said. "There's something up ahead."

There was a strange landmark in the distance. Something poking up over the palms. We ran and breached the clearing around it.

It was the so-called "warp portal," complete with our own footprints in the sand all around it.

“Well this IS a revelation.”

After stepping through the so-called "warp portal" in the woods behind Psyhigh, we found ourselves on a beach.

"He did mention something about being stranded in the middle of an ocean," Camy said.

It was true. Which was weird because there's no ocean near Psyhigh.

"But he also mentioned hearing E.E. Glarbson's invisible helicopter. And we received his transmission. Which side of the portal is he on?"

"Or maybe he's caught between," said Campbell. "That's where his crew jumped off."

"How come the drones didn't tell us this was a beach?" I asked.

"Digital signals wouldn't pass through the portal. Just analog. Basic stuff," Campbell answered.

The portal was still looking stable. A big black hole floating in the air just above the beach. Something swirled in the blackness, and the woods behind Psyhigh were somewhere on the other side. It looked pretty out of place against the big blue sky and puffy clouds.

"You can get video now though?" I asked.

"Yup," answered Campbell.

"Well why don't you take a little look around and see if you can find a wrecked airship anywhere?"

"Since the moment we came through, boss."

I guess we were getting a little edgy.

"Ok then... uh.... Let's take a little walk down the beach, shall we?" said Camy.

Day ???? of being stranded

Hello friends, comrades, brothers, and sisters, I have been stranded in the middle of nowhere for I do not know how long, it's been way too long, I've forgotten my name, forgotten common manners, I don't know how much longer I can stay sane, I need help, please.

Also, I heard that weird whirring noise it sounded like a helicopter but there wasn't one in sight, I'm starting to think it may be invisible.

This won't be much of a formal format cause I do not want to waste the airships energy, but there's still food for like 30 years left and we still have the full amount of Type 12 Reality Syndrome Filaments, we do need help, and I mean it, I was injured during the warp, I still know nothing of this world I am in, I did hear a helicopter whirring though, but I could not find where it was.

The current jobs I have been doing are pretty hard on my airship, it's starting to rust all over, and everything is starting to break, let's hope I can get to an airship dealer and buy a new and improved airship before this ship kills me.
