All aboard the Ventura, the ship of wonders. I am Michael Peters, the captain of the ship. Partnering with Zephyr Air Transport, Inc., we transport almost anything as long as you have the container for it and the ship can handle it. With Ventura, you can be assured that your cargo will reach its destination the way you want it. We deliver anywhere on Earth as long as it is above ground and its location is properly indicated by GPS coordinates.

Ship features: The Ventura is a Merchant class cargo vessel propelled by a Dyson-style engine at the front, back, sides, top, and bottom, governing propulsion and steering functions. Its hull resembled that of a maritime vessel but its upper part, which may correspond to a maritime vessel's deck, is full covered by a thick layer of transparent xenomaterial designed to withstand four thermonuclear attacks. The cargo size is similar to a standard cargo ship, which can carry 40 tons (2-TEU).

Warnings on Contraband: The crew of 'the Ventura' does not tolerate masking of contraband cargo as legitimate. If found, we will alert officials from the Zephyr Air Transport, Inc., as well as the local authorities of the fact and we will demand compensation for the trouble. Contraband items include those that are specifically prohibited at the destination.

How to hire us: Please use the Job Board. Follow the instructions there. Properly indicate the cargo, its weight, and the latitude and longitude of the location. Please use Google Maps for that.

With that, the crew and I wishes you a fair weather.

My quartermaster asked me if dirigibles can float with a 40-ton cargo. I told him that those bladeless engines aren't just for show.

Hartwell ELEC III 12/1/2017 10:39pm

Spent all day reinstalling arc fault circuit interrupters throughout the AHU's. Chief Engineer must have read an article on cascade failure chains and got worried he'd look bad if we all dropped like a stone. Up the AIC he says. Check the GFCIs he says.

They say there's enough wire in the Ventura to reach halfway to the nearest moon, and I think I saw most of it today.

The electrical grid on the Ventura is complex, to say the least. You can't just go installing new modules without knowing anything about their electrical load. And that's exactly what those goons in the black suits are doing! Chief Engineer says they've got clearance to do whatever they want and that I was at their disposal and would this be a problem, Mr. Hartwell? So I'm in the room with the goons and they've got what looks like a big jar of brains, and they want to plug it in directly into the central transducer array. I took one look at their octopus cables and tried to make it clear you couldn't just plug those in, and did they know what kind of potential power flux that would mean, and anyway if you ever wanted to couple those cables with the transducer output, you'd need to modify a bunch of T9 conduit assemblies and *maybe* you could do it. They said thanks and sent me on my way, but I'm not comfortable with what they're doing at all, no sir, I'd just like to state for the record.

It's another day in the Ventura.

We have no jobs as of the moment. We do have an important task.
I have a friend who got himself split throughout time.
Someone wants to acquire him for research purposes.
I don't want to involve the crew in this dangerous mission.
I do, however, need help in making sure nobody gets to him or his hybrid friend.
I would be gone for quite a while.
If you disobeyed my orders not to enter my quarters and read my notes, now you know.
Happy holidays.

Not only did those goons hook up the bucket 'o brains to the central transducer but they've put me in charge of its care and feeding. I told them I'm not a zoo keeper or some Igor they can use to watch over their pet science projects but Chief Engineer says that all aspects of maintaining the ship's grid were under my duty description and would this be a problem, Mr. Hartwell? So now I've got duty on the big jar, feeding it flakes like a fish. Meanwhile it seems to have ordered up some modifications on a SCR-271 in the comms array and WHAT? This grey matter in a specimen jar is wired into the chain of command?! They're not paying me enough for this no way no how.

ELECTRICTY. I SWIM WITHIN THE BODY OF THE DRUG.
AIRFLOW OPTIMAL OVER MY BLADELESS SPACES. MESSAGES BOUNCE FROM THE MOON AND BACK.
BIOWAVE LIFE IS GOOD.

Hartwell ELEC III 1/7/2018 6:26pm

The brain in the jar is obsessed with the moon. I come in and dump some fish flakes in there, measure the serotonin levels and top it off, then get a dump of its activity. And what’s it doing? Talking to the moon, apparently. The big moon—Diana. It’s been sending a steady stream of signals right at it. The messages are encrypted and when I ask Cheif Enginner about it he tells me that’s beyond my pay grade, and would you prefer duty taking the Christmas lights off the hull of the ship, Mr. Hartwell? That’s a job for even bigger chumps than me, so here I am watching a bubbling brain in a tank try and talk to the moon.

SLYR REQUEST - 1/16/2018 10:55pm

Job claimed by Captain Sweden 2018-01-17 10:11:46

I'd like precisely 157.8392 metric tonnes of raw, untamed power delivered to the Institute of European Timepieces in the heart of the Amazonian jungle beside the Amazon river, approximately 1,037 miles down the river if you follow it from the start. If you can't find us, set your scanners to pick up concentrations of antimatter, and the highest concentration of it in the southern hemisphere is the location of the institute. We all eagerly await your arrival, and payment will be in gold doubloons.
