"Urp."
"You know, it's probably not good for us to get too used to this."
"I know, right? Totally factory-grown cloud krill. But it tastes sooooo good..."
"They probably put stuff in it to make it taste this way."
"Who knows what else they're putting in it."
"We're already filled with nano-trackers."
"And next you're going to say they're controlling our brains from satellites in space."
"They ARE."
"They don't have to. They dump the cloud krill here and we all flock to it like sheep. Don't need mind control satellites for that."
"Well it keeps us from getting a bonked in the head by a blimp. Like Meeeermeeeer."
"Wha? Did somebody say my name?"
"You just keep feasting, big guy."
"I just don't like feeling controlled."
"Yeah well you wouldn't like feeling like Meeeermeeeer, I promise."
"Wha???"
"At least THAT blimp looks soft."
"The buffet blimp?"
"Well I don't see any others..."
"Yeah. I like how they paint it up like it's one of us."
"It's true they don't seem super clever."

Sky Whales eat a lot. Which is why most of my day is spent shoveling sky bait.
But at the end of a shift, sometimes I get lucky and a pod shows up. When the sun starts to go down, that's when the sky bait is at its ripest, and the whales begin to burst through the pink and orange clouds, looking for dinner.
When that happens, I get out of my stinky feeding suit as fast as possible and lower my recording gear off the open deck.
That's my real passion. Aerocetological communication. And family structure.

Another beautiful day in the Sky Whale Wilderness shoveling sky bait out of the cargo-bay door.
Sure, it's smelly, but the scented filter mask helps. And I wear Tyvek coveralls, which keeps most of the stink from seeping in.
But as an aerocetologist working on my PhD, having a job on the Lilybug is a dream come true.

BIG EEDERS ARE BIG FEEDERS
Everyone loves the Sky Whales, but as their numbers increase, so does the danger to air shipping lanes across the subclusters.
In order to preserve the majesty of this precious airborne fauna, they need to be properly managed. Like the trout! Except so much bigger.
In order to influence their migratory patterns and keep them out of the way of being rammed by a heavy lifting dirigible or a super floater or a mega dreadnaught, a great deal of sky bait needs to be delivered.
That's where YOU come in.
Atmospheric Wildlife Management needs tons of sky bait regularly gathered from our sky bait farms in West Sidonia and delivered to the Sky Whale Wilderness in North Proxton. Only ships and crews with proper Atmospheric Wildlife Management licensing need apply.
