Spaz Skunk, Ship's Shaman Third Class here, @Captain Jack Fenris, and I've got to report some strange activity on the horizon. Not the LITERAL horizon of course ha ha but I mean in my Scrying Teacup. I was having tea this afternoon and I couldn't find my ordinary tea cup so just grabbed one off the dish rack and as I'm sipping off the last dregs I looked down at the leaves and went into a Level II fugue. I fell backwards and almost broke the cup!

But what I saw was this. It was sunset here at the port, and the penteconters and triremes were securing themselves for the night, the last rays of golden sunlight sparkling on the water and the gilded sails, the dockworkers and tradesmen taking care of their end of day business. Then, from the east, there were airships. Not like ours, but ornate, multitiered, open deck ships, trailing great scarlet ribbons and and long fins.

The magnificent parade passed overhead, and the workers on the docks and in the ships raised their hands and shouted great hellos. I began to cry from the beauty of it all.

But these gorgeous boats of the air didn't slow down, didn't stop. They were rushing ahead, shouting tersely at us down below.

I looked back to the east, at a great swelling darkness. I began to cry again, but not out of joy.

It's then that my fugue ended, and I crawled to my bunk to sleep it off. I would have reported sooner but you know how strong the fugue effect is, and this one was a doozy. But I came to report it to you as soon as I was able.

The appearance of the Moonbeam at this busy bronze-age port caused less attention than you might think. Many of the ships are far more beautiful to look at than the Moonbeam. Not that the Moonbeam isn't a handsome ship, but these boats can be ornate, with so much color, dyed sails, and multiple tier construction--spiny with oars and rigging. A few of them look like they could take off flying on their own.

But the lack of interest seems like it's something more. Like they've seen the same kind of thing before. But I really don't remember anything in airship history class going back this far.

Sure wish we could speak the language. But that hasn't prevented us for trading various knickknacks on board for food to the local street vendors.

And plunged them down a thousand years below!

And who am I? Well, I'm Baron Von Dingo, your friendly bard and storyteller, here to tell you what happened when @Captain Jack Fenris and crew of the Moonbeam had a bit of a misunderstanding with a recently reawakened ancient Egyptian force o' nature, which has resulted in their ship being plunged deep within the roiling waves of the temporal sea!

Will the crew find some steady chrono-ground on which to moor their ship? Or are they doomed to forever tumble, spiraling week after week through barely glimpsed scenes, never finding a plot to settle on?

Let's peek in on our favorite ship and crew now and see what they're up to...

@Captain Jack Fenris! Sir! Temporal distortions are returning! And it's whipping up quite a dust storm. You can see the ruins of some ancient city below, rising up from the sands off the larboard bow. And First Mate @Strange Katz is making a strange mewling noise!

Come quickly, Captain! You're needed on the bridge!!!

@Captain Jack Fenris! Sir! Temporal plasma cooling around us now. We are in-atmosphere... and it's still Earth, sir. Or at least "an earth." Retcon adjusted for temporal redshift at 0.05. So, a close enough branch down the pike.

The year appears to be roughly 2007. The Black Parade still charting well. And we appear to be over north Africa. Egypt, coincidentally enough, sir.

I'm picking up a transmission from another ship. Identifying itself as The Rapture, with Captain @that_name_isnt_taken. They are reporting a temporal misplacement as well, Captain. Temporal residue on the Rapture indicates they're from 2019, shortly before The Confusion in their timeline.

Our darkTech should keep us off anyone's radar, sir. Keeping our distance till we asses.

Time disruption erupting all around us, @Captain Jack Fenris! The WonderFly9000 is the source--we're under a barrage from some kind of temporal weapon. We're starting to slip...

And we're being hailed! Someone identifying themselves as @HRH Chons sends their regards? 

The message reads "Welcome to eternity..."

Oh no here comes a swell... brace for it...

I found a coffin shaped box with 21 mummified mice, 7 rows of 3, in a room that had disdyakis triacontahedrons, 12 hour clocks, and dream catchers. Should we send the box to them as a gift, to let them know we come in peace? They might be more willing to communicate with us.

(I wonder what Bastet is doing) We should raise Captain @Worded first, see what all is going on. Maybe they'll know why there is so much radiation. I think the lady is Pakhet, Egyptian cat goddess, AKA she who scratches.

Ah, yes, of course, the Wonderfly9000. But it doesn’t look like it does in the Zephyr Air Transport Airship Identification Guide. Instead It’s got a great big figurehead on the front. Looks like a woman with the wings of a vulture, holding an ankh, and two big tubes coming out of her head. Smokestacks? Oh and there’s quite a bit of radiation coming out of the ship. 

Would you like us to come along side, Captain Jack, or should we try and raise Captain @Worded first? Still picking up the mummified cat readings. It looks like they're chasing a ball of radioactive yarn.
